Hey Banging Fam! It’s been a pretty eventful week for the EDM community between Electric Forest Weekend 1 and EDM artists releasing some pretty great content. To keep everyone up to date, we’ve compiled a list of our top five favorite EDM news headlines from this week. Enjoy!

5. Dancing Alone to Axwell & Ingrosso’s New Release

Thursday morning, Axwell & Ingrosso posted a photo of Paris Hilton from 2001 to promote ‘Dancing Alone,’ a forthcoming single featuring Romans. The long-awaited track was released on Friday, June 29th to positive regards from both fans and critics. ‘Dancing Alone’ is a trance house track with a pleasantly upbeat vibe, and we’ve been jamming to it nonstop. 4. New Record Deal, New Music Video, New Web Series: Same Marshmello

It’s been a big past few weeks for Marshmello. On June 21st, Marshmello signed a deal with Kobalt Music Group who manage artists like Alessia, Mumford and Sons, Sam Smith, and Dixie Chicks. On Thursday, Marshmello released a new video for the song ‘You Can Cry’ where he and Juicy J sign in American Sign Language. The song features vocals from and Juicy J and James Arthur. Lastly, good news for gamers! Marshmello just released a new video series called “Gaming with Marshmello which premiered on Friday. His first video, which featured the masked EDM DJ and fellow DJ Myth playing Fortnite while blindfolded, has already gained nearly half a million views. New episodes will be posted weekly.

3. Bassnectar: The Talk of Electric Forest Weekend 1

At Weekend 1 of Electric Forest, Bassnectar unleashed tons of previously unheard music from his forthcoming release, Reflective Part 3 including his new track “Whiplash.” Previously, the first chapter of Reflective was released almost a year ago now, on June 16th, 2017, followed by Reflective Part 2 on December 1st, 2017. Though the artist has not announced the release date for Part 3 yet, some fans speculate the release will be August 24th of this year. Recently, Bassnectar tweeted that the third chapter of the Reflective series will be “a diverse mix of slo mo hypnotic sounds and super hardcore blast beats.” Hope you’re as hyped up as we are to hear it and for updates from Electric Forest Weekend 2!

2. Born To Be No. 1

Kygo and Imagine Dragons debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales list with their now hit single “Born To Be Yours.” The song marks the second No. 1 song on this list for Kygo, the first, of course, being “It Ain’t Me,” featuring Selena Gomez, which held No. 1 for a week in March 2017.

1. England Wins a World Cup; EDM Wins a Victory Song

This past Sunday, England celebrated a 6-1 win over Panama in the world cup. When England’s Harry Kane was asked to choose a victory song, he chose One Kiss by Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa. As a result, Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa both responded enthusiastically on their Twitter accounts, with Harris referring to Kane as “The Legend.”

BONUS: Summer of Whomst?!

Lastly, for anyone unaware, this is the SUMMER OF SHAQ. The NBA Hall of Famer, who has been DJing since he was 14-years-old, just announced his first-ever DJ tour. You can catch him this summer performing at Mad Decent Pool Party in Miami with Diplo, at EchoStage in DC with CashCash, and more.
